Cluttered is what life is now.

Muttered words strewn across the floor,

Disarray in the midst of organized bliss.

Don’t miss the best part of this, though.

You know the answer without asking, yet you ask anyway.

Shuttered is what life is now.

A long run forgotten
Remembered only by the dull tread of the shoes
Blackened and worn by the steady beating of the pounds,
Sounds, and ground.
Muscles begotten unto earth’s own truths
All fighting for the same thing, round by round,
The body collapses:
One more relapse
Perhaps
He’ll walk again someday on the sun.

For every foreigner, a border.
For every intruder, an alert.
For every murderer, a weapon,
And for every victim a hurt.

For every thought, a decision.
For every reaction, a mission.
For every fission, a collision,
And for every death, a flirt.

For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.

Down and down

Pushed to hold on indefinitely
Like a hanging drop
Dragged by hope
Down and down

Words become breaths and heartbeats.
In and out the lungs move with every pulse
Until the eyelids shut
The cords are cut
And the period ends the sentence.

Little girl, hold your head up and cry.
Let the tears fall from your face.
Little girl, hold my hand tight and lie.
We’re all we need in this time and place.
Little girl, did you see the shooting star?
It flew by as it shot across the sky.
Little girl, it’s a promise and a blessing:
Thunder rolls and lightning strikes explain why.
